New Year's Eve 2007

For Noah's first New Year's Eve we had a small party. While he was definitely a special guest he spent most of the evening hiding in the Moby wrap on Mommy or Daddy's tummy where he slept soundly through the midnight hour.

Noah's 1st Christmas

Noah spent much of his first Christmas getting held by his visiting cousins and great Auntie Sheila. While his outfits were festive he wasn't particularly jolly or appreciative of the silly things we kept putting on his head. His favorite gift was a stuffed carrot teething toy.

Meeting Cousins

Today Noah got to meet his cousin Jerusha and Belle for the first time. Belle did a good (and careful) job of holding Noah.

Solstice

Our annual Solstice celebration in Grover Beach was made extra special this year. Aside from the usual crew of misfits we had some extra special guests: Jeremy's parents, Josh, Mia, Kevin, Tony, Melanie, Steve, Amy and Mary. Mary and Steve were especially excited to meet Noah for the first time.

First Portraits

We were desperate for some gift giving ideas so we decided to give Sears Portrait Studio a try. It's amazing how having a baby in November leaves you little time for holiday shopping. :) We avoided all cheesy backdrops and kept it simple (and hopefully) classic with a basic white background. It's still a scam and I hate their pricing , but we were happy with the photos and overall glad that we gave it a try.

Fondue and Candy Cane Lane

Noah joined me for girl's night out tonight. It was our annual fondue, champagne and walk down Candy Cane Lane in Alameda. It's something that me, Dayna, Diana and Jen have done for the past couple of years. It's a fun tradition and a good excuse to eat cheese!

Shannon and Noah

Smiles!

We've seen Noah smile before, but since we weren't doing anything to bring on the smile we chalked it up to an involuntary reaction to gas. Today we were sitting on the couch and suddenly he began to respond and smile at our silly antics. His smile could just light up a room and melt hearts. It was so positively cute.

What Noah is really thinking?

Great Auntie Sheila got creative with some photo captions...

First Movie

Tonight we decided to check out "Baby Brigade" at the Parkway Theater in Oakland. The Parkway is an old movie house that's been gutted and filled with comfy couches. They have a full restaurant and serve beer and wine. On Monday evenings the first show in each theater is "baby brigade" where new parents can bring their babies under one years old. We went and saw "Darjeeling Limited". We were expecting to not be able to see (or hear) much of the movie due to all the crying babies. What we found instead was a room full of pretty chill babies and parents who simply stood up and walked around the side of the theater if their baby got fussy. It was great. Noah slept the whole time and we got a date night.

Fluid Holiday Party

Jeremy's work hosted a holiday party at a lounge in San Francisco. It was my first opportunity to dress up a little bit and go out so I was looking forward to it. Today was also Noah's one month birthday so we decided that an outing was just the thing to celebrate. I put him in a Santa hat and festive onesie and went to pick up Jeremy. I think we were there over 3 hours and Noah slept the entire time. Jeremy's co-workers kept coming over to say hi and see if he was awake yet. After a while when he was still sleeping the joke became that he wasn't even a real baby. Finally, we decided it was time to go home. His first party and he didn't even know he was there. :)

Dinner drop off - Josh K.

Ahhh, the end of an era. Tonight was the last of our meal drop offs. It has truly been an amazing present that our friends gave us. It's one thing to have the time to think of what you can possibly make for dinner, but then to find the time to go to the store AND cook AND clean...it's just all too much during these precious weeks of adjustment. It's really bean a stupendously fun and awesome gift and it's been great to have the one-on-one time with each friend as they came over.

Josh K. came tonight with a ton of delicious mac and cheese with turkey sausage. Yummy!

Ice skating at AT&T Park

I know, I know. Less than a month out of the hospital with a c-section and we go...ice skating?! A small ice rink was set up on the field of AT&T Park so a large group of our friends had planned an outing. It sounded like so much fun and a great way to bring in the holidays--my favorite time of year. I haven't ice skated in years and years and Jeremy and I have NEVER skated together before so the voice of reason was tossed out the window and we went. It was so much fun...and so cold. Noah slept most of the time bundled up like a little teddy bear.

Shake, Rattle and Cry

Jeremy bought this beautiful wooden rattle for Noah. It is very smooth and pretty with a non offensive sound. :) Noah has yet to figure out just how to hold it without bonkin' his little head.
